Kimberly Zurich, ND LAc
Dr. Z first graduated from Cornell University with a degree in neurobiology in 1999. After struggling with allergies for her whole life, she learned how strongly the foods one eats can affect the body’s functioning, and she became interested in traditional medicine. Kim earned her doctorate of Naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. (What is a naturopathic physician?) Within a few years, she realized she could not ignore her love of Chinese medicine, and continued her training at the New England School of Acupuncture where she earned a masters of acupuncture.
Dr. Z is nationally board certified in acupuncture from NCCAOM. She has worked in various community clinics throughout the country, including Boston Medical Center and the Dempsey Center, and is thrilled to bring her expertise to her chosen home of Maine.
In addition to regular coursework, she has received specific training in orthopedic acupuncture, and healing emotional trauma. Dr. Z loves helping people who are in pain: both emotional and physical. She can help you navigate change, growth, and get back on your feet again.
Dr. Z has created Infuse Health Clinic to offer the best of natural medicine. She combines her extensive training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition to offer effective, personalized treatment plans, tailored directly to you.
Dr. Z is a member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB), and Maine Acupuncture Society (MAS). She has also volunteered with the Portland Veteran's Acupuncture Clinic.
Dr. Z has also spent over 10 years teaching physiology, pathology, and nutrition at Southern Maine Community College and Northeast College of Health Sciences.
Kim loves to be outdoors and is often in the woods with her dog, Bennett. In her free time, she can be found training in the martial art of ninjutsu with her husband, Adam. She believes in real food, community, and the big picture.
“Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.” ~Hippocrates
Simple, yet drastically different from what we have been taught to expect as medicine. And somehow it all makes sense. Chinese medicine is a way of living. It is a philosophy that cherishes prevention of disease and balance of all your parts as a whole. The doctor will listen to your story and get to know you as a person. You are treated as an individual, not a disease, and your treatment is tailored to you specifically to treat and heal the underlying cause of the illness.
Healing from the inside out: our bodies are smart, and have numerous ways to deal with the imbalances of disease. Sometimes they get overwhelmed, and at that point, the doctor provides therapies that aid the body in its natural process. This way of medicine can truly restore health rather than mask symptoms and create unwanted side effects. At Infuse Health Clinic, the motto is “do no harm,” because medicine is not supposed to hurt you.
